Caldercraft – H.M.S. “Cruiser”
The Cruiser class were brig rigged sloops and were the most numerous class of warships built in the age of sail. In all 103, were built, from the “Cruiser” in 1797, to the Zebra in 1815. The “Cruiser” class played a very active roll in the Napoleonic wars, from escort duty, reconnaissance and enemy convoy and inshore raiding.
Class dimensions were: Length 100ft; Breadth 30ft.6ins; Displacement 382 tons with a crew of 121.
As originally built Cruiser had 18 x 6 pdr. carriage guns but changed to 16 x 32 pdr. carronades and 2 x 6 pdr. carriage guns.
Kit includes double plank hull on bulkhead, walnut CNC parts, 18 brass 6 pdr. guns, black and natural hemp for rigging.
