OcCre – “Endurance” Polar Exploration Vessel.
The “Endurance” was launched on 17 December 1912 under the name “Polaris”.
Originally rigged as a frigate, she was converted into a 3 mast barquentine.
In 1914 joined the Trans-Antarctic Imperial Expedition to cross Antarctica under Sir Ernest Shackleton.
The Expedition was shipwrecked in August 1915 and the “Endurance” was ice bound in the Weddell Sea.
For 522 days the explorers braved very harsh conditions.
The expedition is remembered as an epic story of endurance, heroism and survival.
The kit features a double plank-on-bulkhead hull.
Quality laser-cut plywood parts for the framework, subdeck, and major components.
Wood strips provided to plank the hull, deck and build all details. Wooden dowels provided for the masts, bowsprit, yards, booms and gaffs.
A full selection of fittings to detail the model in wood, cast metal, and brass.
Fittings include blocks, deadeyes, eyebolts, nails, ship’s boats, funnel, rigging line, etc.
