“Calypso”

Research Ship – The “Calypso” was built in the USA in 1942 as a minesweeper.
She was bought in 1950 by Jacques-Yves Cousteau, and after extensive changes and modifications has become a fully equipped ocean research vessel.
She is complete with observation chamber in the stern, oval diving bell, Galaezzi diving chamber, inflatable boat for shallow waters, helicopter and other underwater equipment.
Length 42 m, tonnage 360 tons, speed 12 knots.
Kit includes ABS hull, laser cut wooden strips, stern tube with shaft, rudder, fittings set, plan and manual.

Note:This kit is a“Red Hat Edition” and is a special, limited-run release of their 1:45 scale model kit of Jacques-Yves Cousteau’s famous research vessel. As a tribute to Cousteau and his crew, this edition includes a miniature replica of the iconic red woolly hat (beanie) that they always wore during their expeditions.
