Returns/Exchanges

As a FLOAT a BOAT customer, you are entitled to a 14 day return period from the time that the goods you ordered have been received through Freight Service tracking.
All Returns / Exchanges must be accompanied with the original intact Receipt / Tax Invoice and valid for the particular product concerned.

FLOAT a BOAT will accept returns under the circumstances detailed below as long as customers first obtain an authorization and return instructions from FLOAT a BOAT, preferably by emailing info@floataboat.com.au or call
(03) 9879 2227 during business hours.
FLOAT a BOAT will not accept returns on the basis of a change of mind, wrong selection of a product or because items were found cheaper elsewhere. However, FLOAT a BOAT will honour all Australian Consumer Laws regarding Refund or Repair of any item sold from our store within Australia which is proven to be faulty and not damaged due to misuse or modified from its original manufactured configuration.

Generally, under Australian Consumer Laws, a store does not have to give a refund or replacement if a customer simply changes their mind about a product. Under these laws the customer is only entitled to a refund or replacement for a major problem with a product covered by consumer guarantees.

Manufacturer’s product guidelines must be followed. If in doubt, please call us to verify details of your concerns.
International sales cannot and will not be covered by Australian Consumer Laws.

Different to what was Expected

If a customer receives a product purchased from FLOAT a BOAT and finds that it will not meet their expectations, the customer is entitled to return this item for credit or replacement within 14 days of delivery receipt as long as it is unused, unopened and with its original packaging intact and in saleable condition (at the discretion of FLOAT a BOAT) accompanied by the original Receipt / Tax Invoice. Authorization must be obtained and goods must be returned at the customer’s expense.

Exceptions to this is if the customer no longer requires this item, then we are not obliged to accept a return under any circumstance.

Damaged goods

If a customer receives delivery of a product purchased from FLOAT a BOAT and it is found to be damaged in transit in any way, FLOAT a BOAT cannot be held responsible. To offset this issue, we offer Freight Insurance at a minimal cost to guard against this and it is recommended that this be considered as an option when ordering.
All claims must be directed towards the carrier of the goods for compensation.

Damaged or missing parts

If a customer receives shipment of a product purchased from FLOAT a BOAT and it is found to have a damaged or missing part or component, FLOAT a BOAT will replace this part or component if available but contact must be made within 14 days of delivery receipt. If a suitable replacement part or component is not commercially available, FLOAT a BOAT will replace the entire item as long as it is unused and all original packaging kept. FLOAT a BOAT will reimburse a customer for the return delivery as long as authorization has been granted.

Kit Part Replacement

When you receive your kit you must thoroughly examine the contents and carefully study all drawings and instructions. If you find there is a missing or broken part please advise us immediately. Be aware that in some cases, specific parts are not included in the Kit as they are to be constructed by the builder from plain timber or metal supplied, so what appears to be missing is actually not. Such items requiring to be custom made will normally be indicated in the instructions.

Exceptions

Due to our many years involved in Hobby Retail, experience has made us aware of products of which we are unable to accept returns or exchanges, so we suggest that you order carefully.

  2. Model Ship Kits
  3. Clearance Items
  4. Specially Ordered Products

Items such as Plans which are printed to order are non-returnable.
As these are specifically printed on request we cannot accept returns on them.

In the past, kit returns were repeatedly received which had been opened and repacked with parts and / or plans and instructions missing, so we are no longer including these as part of our Returns Policy.
However, if after purchasing a kit and checking all the contents, any missing parts will be addressed by FLOAT a BOAT in order to complete the kit. Please refer to the above ‘Kit Part Replacement’ section for details of reporting a missing part.
Clearance Items and Specially Ordered Products are also not returnable. Where an item has been specifically ordered in for a customer at their request, we cannot accept returns on these products as they are not part of our standard stock range.
